I said this above but I'll put it here as well:  People with integrity in that sense is not really what I meant. How I see it is the current system is almost entirely full of people who were paid off by evil people to pass laws that push towards the elites goals. While it would be nice to have someone who is honest and straight forward, that will never solve any problems because the evil in charge will never allow it. What I mean by integrity is someone who will stay on the path to fixing these major issues and not get paid off or scared away, and if they have to play the system, hide their true intentions and lie to the evil that is in charge I have no problem with that. If you could cure cancer but was only able to do so by lying about your research to the people giving out grants, I think that you would be dishonorable not to do so.    
  
I also wouldn't care if someone used pop culture fame and made politics their career if it was for the right reasons.  Our enemies do whatever it takes to keep control, it would be nice to take the high road but I'm not sure if that will work.   
  
You mentioned working with some politicians before, what do you think were their biggest pitfalls (in ideology and strategy) and their biggest successes?

However I do believe you are right that we are not the first people to come up with this idea, and I unsure if it is the best method.  That begs the question why has it continuously failed in the US?   
  
And to your last point, I blew by that because it does not solve the greater problem.  I do think everyone should focus on building their communities for sure, but that can be done while also trying to find a solution to the larger picture as well.

To me it seems like the hemi-epiphyte method and finding followers that already agree mostly look like they work well together and are seemingly the most realistic path.  (the others would need a lot more luck involved to work).   The left has shown that slippery slope techniques can be effective, so just planting seeds early on and then getting more radical with policy as time goes on does seem like it will work convincing the people to be on your side.    
  
The largest problem would be getting congress to pass laws with you, and while support from the people can go a long way, it may not be enough.  Maybe doing something like Trump floated earlier about creating a new MAGA party.  If one was a popular president like Trump in theory they'd have a good shot at breaking off and making a successful new party and then it would be very clear which congressmen were on your side to the average voter.  Right now the average voter can't tell the difference between a Thomas Massie and a Rhino Mitch McConnel, but if Thomas joined a third party following the president, it would be clear to the people to vote McConnel out for a candidate of the new party.   
  
That is getting very in the weeds though, I guess the better thing to focus on would be what do initial steps look like for finding and setting up the foundation for a candidate like this?

I think that your first statement about what you fear is entirely true.  I had thought about starting a podcast/online presence but I came to the concussion in my head that I would simply be deplatformed at some point and instead focused on gaining wealth and influence in my community.  I have since moved away from my home town and to a nice regular place, so a lot of people around me are closer to my worldview now.    
  
Your second solution made me realize a possible route that piggy backs off of this idea.  Everyones favorite German politician actually did this, he did take some donation money from the usual sources to fund his campaign, and then pretty much backstabbed them.  He was though clear with his message the entire time, I guess they were trying to make him sell out and bribe him.  I do not think that is possible today, if you speak out against the machine you will be blacklisted from politics.   
  
A route that could be feasible though is to do like you said, gain exposure and choose a party and receive the funding and then once you are in a position of power show your true colors and do something cool like put us on the gold standard and disband the federal reserve.   
  
Would this be possible though without an entire movement behind you?  While this strategy could get you to power, you need congress and the rest of government (and support from the people) to enact anything like that.  In the switch up scenario you get elected but you may not be able to do much.    
  
Would it then be better to find a strategy for making these ideas more popular?  Instead of Germanys solution to the financial problem, I think we just need people to realize megacorps and banks are the problems, the ones controlling politics.  If the government declared vangaurd, blackrock, statestreet enemies of the state, sieze their assets, and just let the companies who they held stock in keep the money (ie. vanguard owns 13% of google, that stock just gets given to google for free).  End the Fed, Gold standard, limit usery severely (working towards outlaw IMO).    
  
I guess a follow up question would be is it necessary to make ideas like this popular in tandem with running someone who will do it?

Okay let me rephrase my sentiment because I think what you said is mostly correct (in my opinion).  I'll clarify, third party could work as a solution.  I do also think someone like RFK could have one as an independent if Trump was not on the republican ticket.  The thing about RFK though is he was already extremely famous and wealthy, which as my hypothesis goes, are the two main necessities to run a successful campaign.    
  
My statement about joining a third party was simply that if someone with little budget and low name recognition joined the libertarian party, it wouldn't make a difference and they would never win.  What this means is that being a libertarian third party candidate is not the answer to the question I am asking (which is how do we elect a candidate who will not sell out).    
  
I could see a reality where a third party does win, but they were funded by the usual suspects and are compromised.  In that same breath, I could also see a reality where a good natured person goes viral and is crowd funded and refuses to take money from special interests and runs as a republican just to help get more votes.  Obviously I would rather the second option as I think the main characteristic we need is someone who won't let money make his decisions.
