Okay let me rephrase my sentiment because I think what you said is mostly correct (in my opinion). I'll clarify, third party could work as a solution. I do also think someone like RFK could have one as an independent if Trump was not on the republican ticket. The thing about RFK though is he was already extremely famous and wealthy, which as my hypothesis goes, are the two main necessities to run a successful campaign. My statement about joining a third party was simply that if someone with little budget and low name recognition joined the libertarian party, it wouldn't make a difference and they would never win. What this means is that being a libertarian third party candidate is not the answer to the question I am asking (which is how do we elect a candidate who will not sell out). I could see a reality where a third party does win, but they were funded by the usual suspects and are compromised. In that same breath, I could also see a reality where a good natured person goes viral and is crowd funded and refuses to take money from special interests and runs as a republican just to help get more votes. Obviously I would rather the second option as I think the main characteristic we need is someone who won't let money make his decisions.
