If you have 8k saved up that is really good. You should be able to find yourself a good car for that amount of money. Well, down here you would be able to, I'm not sure about the car market up there. Do you have any local used car dealers? I would just pay attention to their inventory and go talk to a sales person. You can buy the car before the dealership does a wash and cleaning on it, you can in general save some money. Youtube is a great place to learn how to work on your vehicle, but with that said, you do need tools and a place to work on the vehicle. Reach out to friends, family and your community to see if anyone has an older car like you said with "easy" miles on it like to the Bingo hall or what not. I just bought that Chevy Tahoe for 3,500 but it did need some work and I have a good mechanic buddy of mine that lives in the neighborhood. Start looking, this time of year is slow for dealerships because most people aren't buying cars. If Trump gives out the 2k stimulus, cars will go up in price soon afterwards. Keep that in mind.
