If you hold a temporary visa for work or being a student or whatever, and you violate any laws or are not abiding by the terms of your visa then you should be deported and you should denied re-entry for anywhere from 5 years to life. When you hold a temporary visa you are a guest and guests should be on their best behavior in someone else's home. Additionally, if you are on a temporary visa you should not receive, directly or indirectly, any government or government funded benefits other than emergency medical care. Permanent legal residents should be afforded most of the benefits of citizens. The exclusions should be voting (that should be ONLY citizens, else there is NO reason to be a citizen of a country), receiving benefits, and immunity from deportation for criminal behavior. When it comes to voting, if you allow non-citizens to vote then you are allowing foreign election interference. As a side note to that, once they vote the nation into collapse they can leave and seek refuge in their home countries something that American citizens cannot do. On the topic of receiving benefits, those benefits should be limited to the ones that the legal resident contributed to, such as unemployment or workers' comp or SSI with Medicare. And while taxes fund other welfare programs that should not be an argument or basis of extending those benefits to the legal resident. Lastly, legal residents should be subjected to revocation of resident status and deportation and reentry ban for criminal felony convictions and or repeated misdemeanor convictions. I would allow for some judicial leeway in that determination based on the history of the legal resident, the circumstances of the crime, and other determining factors as the court deems applicable. As for military service, I disagree with Chad. Non-citizens have served in armies throughout history. Serving in the military of the country you want to call home is a great way to prove your loyalty and commitment to said country. I have known many good people that were serving to get their citizenship and because they wanted to serve and most continued to serve after becoming citizens. When speaking to caps on work visas, one that should be placed is that in any year no more than 10% can come from any single country. Last year or the year before over 70% of work visas went to India, that is too much. That being said, I absolutely agree that we need to overhaul our education system so that we have the skilled and trained workers here without the need to import them. Additionally, we need to return to having strong work ethics and being proud of sons and daughters becoming skilled or trade workers, they make good money too and we need them if we are going to thrive in the future. We also need to respect unskilled workers as well......garbage men are some of the most important workers in the community! So are dishwashers and janitors!

I completely agree with all of this. Well put Heather. I think this is a way more fair and balanced take on it. It is quite similar to the similar we are supposed to have in place right now, and we would have it, if it wasn't because of all the corruption and hidden organizations trying to destroy this country from within.
