*I am operating out of the pretense that the coins will be distributed on a 1 time large dump basis, and not an ongoing process.*

This is the most important issue currently at hand.  
If others agree, then we can move forward to point scoring.  
I am good with the one time dump.  But I don't think we should be voting on this....seems like Matt should review our input, and let us know if he is good with what we are suggesting.  
Otherwise....we need the coins already to vote...and who decides....on and on...

My suggestion was/is to give maximum weight to bumps....not posts or comments.  
Posts - zero  
Comment - zero  
If you make a good post....it will get bumps.....you get those points.  
If you make a good comment...it will get bumps...you get those points.  
No bumps to your post or comment....no points....zero.

*User B then comments*

*User C then comments on User B's comment*

*User C and B then go back and forth for hours making hundreds of comments to each other. But the Poster User A would not gain any points from this.*

1- Answer - quick solve for this.  
A gets points for total bumps in the thread....who ever created the OP....gets the total bump score...massive value  
For example....A makes an OP thread.....but only gets 10 bumps.  
B and C...make a hundred posts under A....they get in total 300 bumps each...for a total of 600 bumps.  
B and C both get 300 points.....A gets 600 points.  That is the value of making a good OP....something like that.  
  
And B and C only get points if their comments get at least 10 bumps per comment.  
We only get points on our Posts and Comments, if they get at least 10 bumps.  
This will reduce the flame wars where two have gone  down a tunnel....but no one bumps...they get no points.
