A suspension system sounds like a good idea to me, a little middle ground between letting something fly and full banning. On the other hand I think we need to normalize the idea that mods aren't really responsible for what people post, that's a completely individual choice by the poster, and their post is their own responsibility. Having hall monitors in Pochas at all makes me think it'll devolve into reddit level mod abuse.

I was originally thinking of an additional 30 minute suspension for mods to use in pochas, and a 7 day suspension. But maybe a better solution would just to be add a Timer to the current ban system. Instead of just ban user, mod's can add a time limit to the ban in minutes. so 30 minutes, 400 minutes whatever. And in their explanation of the ban they can show the user the time limit and explanation for the ban/suspension. it puts a lot of work on the Mod to come back and un-ban someone after a certain time limit. If they could pre-set the limit it relieves a lot of stress and load management. @dangun

You're not a nobody to me @heather! Teacher's Pet, hah, I was mostly a quarrelsome student towards the end. Always questioning the teachers lessons and playing devil's advocate. But Thank you, for the kind words.❤️ I just like Soj.ooO and I want it to be the best it can be. If it becomes so great, not even the tech overlords can defeat it. As Merit is universally loved in many languages and cultures. *"The Squeaky wheel get's the grease"* ^https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_squeaky_wheel_gets_the_grease^

Yes, I know that feeling, good teachers loved me and the others hated me. I understand their issue, it's hard on most egos to be corrected by "a kid", additionally it's challenging to have "a kid" have standards that you should meet. I, also, agree that soj.ooO could be a really good sight, but they do have to get past thinking that **everything** is some form of censorship. I don't think any normal person with a 3-digit IQ thinks that movie ratings are censorship, they are more forewarning of possible exposure. And yes, I would prefer mods to have a "muting" or suspension power within their pochas. Forcing a "time out" for tempers to cool and return to rational logical discourse is the best way to foster free speech and better speech as well. And I am enthusiastically for better speech, as a personal goal, which is why I like to encourage everyone to improve their rhetoric and communication skills, part of that is listening to the other(s) and also controlling emotions while debating so that you are better able to fully and completely express your side/opinion/thoughts.

While I agree with everything you've written, I think suspensions will be deemed censorship and might be against the spirit of soojoo. At the same time, you obviously need a mechanism to stop zits and twits that post unacceptable filth. For that, I guess mods should have the option to notify Matt and ask for a ban. Or soojoo can appoint a group to handle such cases. 3,5 or 7 users that are consistently fair. Not sure but i think Mods can ban users from their own Pochas, no?

A Ban hammer is much more abusive than a suspension imo. Yes mods can BAN Users from a pocha but when I asked it was also unclear if you can "Un-Ban" I would point out that the reliance on matt or any ownership from the mods creates a loop where control can be abused. As the goal is to not have an Overlord of the site.

Great thoughts and discussion. I just wanted to clarify that you can both ban and unban. The rest will certainly be sorted as we work toward the decentralized ownership structure as it is more human than technical.

Thank you for clarifying that. I realize everyone is busy and I can be impatient.
