Some cities have tried using a local type money for goods, but it always seems to peter out.

This is one of those topics ive never been able to theorize a solution for. My great garandparents grew up in a mining town where they were issued coins and currency based on the local mines. While they succeeded while the local mine was fruitful, they lost everything when the mine collapsed. However i think any system that encourages local bartering and trade is a superior system.

Agreed any implementation of such systems would be difficult, but do feel if we could find a way would be amazing. Sadly i do think also it requires a select understanding and acceptance of things that are fading from the world....like community thinking

I think it can still work in rural areas. But they are few and far between. Recapturing the city folk is key.
