Eh, maybe, I'm not referring to one in particular. What I meant was, are these terms for lying discussed in the Qur'an the same or in a similar way to how lying is discussed in the Talmud.. I'd assume so.

Finally someone asks the right question... lying is not permitted in Quran lying is not permitted in hadith (Quotations of Muhammad and his companions) So no, its not permitted in Islam. Some clerics and scholars over the years have given their personal opinion that "white lies"might be allowed only if... 1\. If its a matter of life and death 2\. It stops a war and slaughter 3\. To reconcile a married couple Anyone is free to search the hadith and Quran, both are online for free.
