I agree that the old hospital model turned birth into a captive institutional process. Pain interventions often complicate the pushing phase, leading to more forceps, vacuum, or C-sections. Nearly one-third of US births are already by C-section. Once in the system, mother and baby become a captive audience for other interventions: Vitamin K, Hep B vaccine, etc. Medical backup is a blessing when truly needed, but the default model feels more about control and standardization than supporting an intact, wholesome birth.
