My wife was pre-diabetic and is very much against taking pharmaceuticals, especially when the body can heal itself naturally. She did a mountain of research on how to do it, and I figured I'd give it a go with her. I don't have any lab results to back up my end, but I'm assuming I was in a similar state. Basically, pre-diabetic means you're becoming insulin hormone resistant, and so your pancreas pumps out more insulin in order to get glucose into your cells. Keto on the other hand is your liver producing Ketones to transfer energy into cells when there is a lack of glucose, burning fat instead. This gives your cells a chance to reset their insulin resistance, and you're burning fat for energy. It's a process, doesn't happen over night I mean, and you have to make sure you're drinking a lot of water and maintaining your electrolytes. It's been about three weeks now for me and I'm finally starting to burn fat for energy. Did a long snowshoe hike yesterday, and by the time I was getting to the end my mind was super sharp and I felt like running which isn't something I've felt like doing in a loooooong time. I've also had to take a couple months off from weight lifting because my joints and elbows were aching so much and weren't getting better. Inflammation is already way down, and aching joints are no longer an issue. Still haven't gone back to the weights yet because my energy levels are just starting to come back.
