Rough notes... Let me know what I missed:) A high-trust society is one where people can generally deal with each other honestly and fairly without constant supervision, locks, or verification. Communism is an ideology grounded in atheism. It has repeatedly treated the reduction or elimination of religion as both a theoretical expectation and a practical political goal. Once something becomes heavily political or influential, honesty tends to suffer. Power concentrated in politics has a poor track record of avoiding being hijacked. Culturally, aggressive atheism was mostly forced on populations in the 20th century and doesn’t have a good track record. Secular governments can coexist with religion, but history shows this balance is not simple to maintain in practice. Corruption doesn’t take a break, only its goals evolve. If golf is the new religion, are you accepting Tiger Woods, flaws and all, as its failed spiritual leader?:)
