I come from a small country in the middle east, there's nothing much we can do. We protest, our government is one of the rare in the region that doesn't keep it shut when it comes to the US crimes and is in line with its population. And it's threatened by sanctions from US senators, and every ambassador they assign has one objective: normalization of relations with Israel, but it never happened. So they put more pressure. In vain for now. It's not like we can do something about it, I mean to change the US politics. I woke up on that day of 9/11 and we turned on the news, Al jazeera arabic, we've seen those towers live on TV. Few hours later, Al Jazeera airs a recording from Bin Laden saying: We did not do it, but for sure we congratulate whoever does it. Few months later a new recording, supposedly from his hiding spot in Afghanistan showing the dude with a golden rolex explaining the plan...yeah, right...for a radical Islamist, wearing gold? yeah, very credible. Anyway...my view on the US started shifting from that moment. Then Irak happened. All that, while witnessing the quasi total silence of the US population. Among us we were wondering: they are in democracy, why they don't do anything to stop their government? With time, we understood that you are not really in a democracy, you are just electing someone who was already selected by some other people

I really appreciate you giving you perspective and story. May I give mine as an American? There is no democracy in the United States, there has not been any in my lifetime. After the planes hit the towers. I stood along with tens of thousands of Americans in the streets to protest the Iraq War. I was even featured on local television news. Which Got me in trouble because I skipped school to protest. A few of my teachers didn't like that obviously. While the American public is highly propagandized. So are everyone else. Our votes don't count and they haven't for a long time. Americans don't vote for war. The government just does it. And no one else stops them either. For my entire life almost Every American I know has been against all war or involvement in foreign affairs. Like you said, Americans don't want this either. But we are all stuck in the same boat against the powers that be.
