I had to think about this before I decided to reply. I will start by saying that I like long-form interviews if they are interesting. I think that it is the guest more often than the host that makes the episode interesting. And Ryan, like Rogan and Carlson, have had some very interesting guests on, I would not say that I am a fan of any of the interviewers. Of course other than my husband and kids, I'm not really a fan of anyone. I think that Ryan sometimes appears less knowledgeable in some areas than he should. If you are going to interview someone then research beforehand is basic practice, maybe he doesn't know that or do well with it. Research does take skill and instinct. That being said, I feel the same way about Carlson. Unlike Ryan, Carlson worked in the business as a professional and according to him, grew up in DC around the permanent establishment, yet, seems to miss some basics. Maybe, especially, in the case of Ryan it's his way to get the guest to better explain something, but it's not the best way to do that. I do give Ryan (and Baker) credit for being open about having CIA backgrounds. I am not saying that gives credibility or inspires trust, just that they are honest about that point for whatever reason. So, what are my thoughts on Ryan, I don't have any opinion either way. I did try, but yeah, couldn't do it.

I agree it feels like he plays dumb at times and it comes off disingenuous! thank you for pointing that out.
