I've been advocating for the legalisation of weed since the age of 14... I selected that as my essay subject for high school... I'm no expert however... But, it's a fuckin plant... how can you stop people growing and smoking a plant, what gives anyone the right to control that option for another... there's very little genuine reasons why placing restrictions on this for an individual is justified, it is simply just authoritarianism.

I didn't mean to steer the conversation into drug legalization. I was simply using it as an example that having more educated and vested voters (drug users) who actually have the ability to hold politicians accountable is better than just saying "here are more rules for politicians (drug dealers)." As soon as the rules are written, some politician will figure out how to game them to avoid legal pitfalls.

This is why I agree with most libertarian philosophies. Smaller federal government, more Local government. At a certain level the size of the populace and the size of the government becomes too great. There are issues even with the "Only Land owners and tax payers vote" or "Only tax paying men vote" system as well. As this adds to the hoarding of property and wealth by the rich, and those who got here "First". This is really a deep topic to go down that maybe needs its own post as well. As this comment section is now kind of a mess on this post 🤣 I'll add that if you only get to vote if you have property. We end up fueling the BlackRocks of the world even most lust for property control and power. I love the constitution and the founding fathers. They also made mistakes, look where it has all ended up because they did not put into place all the proper guardrails and could not see the future entirely. I do like the idea that some people have proposed in America, and some countries like South Korea use. ~a Year of service to the country. Whether that is in the military, or some type of public service like feeding the homeless at a soup kitchen, something you cannot buy your way out of and benefits the country. But you must do to earn your citizenship at age 18. Sure I guess you could opt out of doing it, and lose the privilege of voting, that could be some peoples prerogative. Either way I think this is a worthy topic of intense debate.
