Parent Post: No one wonders why the music that is promoted in the black community is so violent?

I worked in the music industry in the 90s. I created one of the first platforms that promoted independent rap artists globally—before most even understood what the internet could do. What I saw behind the scenes was enough to make me walk away. The industry was—and still is—a weapon. I watched it push low-vibration content on purpose while burying artists with substance, real truth-tellers. It wasn’t just neglect. It was deliberate programming. I saw the op back then, and I still see it now. You’re right to call it out. You're not crazy. You're awake. The culture has power—but so do we when we refuse to be manipulated by systems that hate the people they profit from.

I do believe there is a resurgence of hip-hop with substance. Kendrick Lamar has been spearheading it for years now, and I think a lot of the up and coming artist are taking notice. Staying "independent" seems to be the only way you can stay true to yourself and your craft, but everyone needs money unfortunately. In the black community, you dangle a carrot in the face of starving boy, they're going to sign their name on that dotted line. Then the cycle continues. It kinda happened to another one of my favorite artist, Logic. I hate the narrative it paints of my people. I know we are a lot stronger than that, but we are all bonded by trauma. That's what people are hearing in the music. Deep down into the bones, so it will make you move, but what is the artist truly saying? The messages has been lost for a while now.
