Some people are really poo-flinging on the attack. I think this post is well put together. But something we all seem to be missing. The real winner is Macdonald sized corporations. Sure maybe would have been nice to pay less but well worth the cost. Why? Because they can afford it. The non-corprate competition cannot. Its led to a world were you need insurance for everything and licensing and permiting non-stopped. It wouldnt even make any less sense if Macdonalds orchestrated the whole fiasco themselves.

This is exactly the 2nd order effects I was trying to elude too. It's not just the cost of the lawsuit. It's the rippling impact this type of lawsuit had on society. The post was getting really long and i didnt wan't to dive into every single aspect. I actually tried to bring some of this into the post. The real businesses that suffered after this are the Small Businesses. Its easy for mcdonalds to buy a bunch of new coffee makers, and hire a couple extra lawyers. But a your local coffee shop was hurt much worse. Long term effects of lawsuits like this hurt the Small business the most.

All very excellent points. The reality is its inevitable in a lot of ways if corporations exists. If corporations didn't exist these lawsuits wouldnt because almost no one would be able to pay them. Also there's personal effect and consequences of you knowing the small business owners and the small business owners be able to reach out and touch you so to speak. Crazy enough though, if you don't title anything and don't use banks so therefore don't care about credit and garnishment then really there's nothing these civil suits can even do to you. Youll gain some superpower against this nonsense. Simply by becoming dead to the law/legal fiction

a major fault of long term capitalism, is large corporations. However I haven't seen a better system come up yet unfortunately.
