I'm agnostic personally. I don't see any of the worlds extremely devoted people as being very accurate in their perspective, but I appreciate it very much. I like Buddhism and I like the teachings of Jesus. I don't like Christianity most of the time, and I think the Catholics at the top are satanic or something close to it. I think Jesuits and the Catholic church are much close to intel and banking organizations that not. The worlds populations have been so mislead and manipulated and for so long that I can't blame much of anyone for their perspective unless it includes harming others. I do want to remind you of my perspective on cartels here. Not saying they don't exist, but in my 8 years in Mexico I have never seen even the first hint of it. From my perspective life is old fashioned and family oriented, in mostly the best possible ways.
Mexico is it's own unique form of Catholicism. There is such a heavy native influence here. Lots of people still speak the language of the Aztec and there are older people who don't even speak Spanish. And the localized traditions have a huge influence also, many small villages here have their own specific saints, most saints I never heard of. I don't think they exactly worship these saints but there is an extreme reverence at least. Super interesting at least, and its tons of fun. I love that they have invented so many reasons to party, literally 100 days a year or so.
The celebrations are absolutely odd and different, even shocking to some. All the skulls and skeletons doesn't jump out at me as the way I would want to celebrate my grandparents. But I wasn't raised with this as my annual tradition, and it leaks out into the culture year round. These days seem to be the cultural center here, like Christmas back home. But in my 4th or 5th year of being totally immersed into it I see zero negatives and nothing but happy people enjoying life much more because of it. It makes me sad to think of all the people back home just working, fighting and struggling through life. It deosn't have to be the way they were and I was raised to think it is. Maybe the celebration and pagentry is a coping mechanism. If so, it works.
