Thanks for this perspective it is a little mesmerizing to me and a puzzle but so is Catholicism. In my circles of practicing Catholics the Black Pope is completely unknown. Do you have the same opinion about the Greek Orthodox Church? The history and practice is different.

I don't know much about that one specifically, or any of them really. I look at it from a historical and political perspective. I sadly see most of Christianity as a money making scheme. Most Catholics don't know about the Vatican bank, they don't know about the vaults and the gold, and they don't know the pope speaks in a snake auditorium.

Actually it was a pretty dumb question after such a well articulated response. The Byzantine part of the Roman Empire fascinates me. For a thousand years after the fall of Rome, well it was Rome and maybe more the true Christianity.

Thanks for sharing the video Rick! Interesting how its presented. I know they took years to plan the hall, so it's no accident. And the statue is clearly evil the way I see it. Looks like Jesus being followed out of hell by demons to me. And from the right angles it looks like a demon itself. There are probably seats in the hall where it doesn't look like a snake. Its all about angles and perception. I can't doubt the intent though, its an evil place for evil people in my opinion. I hope to get to Italy one day and see for myself.
