'' It's a bit more than that; Chinese are like some Jews, in this regard. They think they are so smart, and non-Han Chinese are so stupid, they always think of cheating/manipulating dumber non-Han Chinese people, as their birth right. The reason for the ghost cities was not only to provide jobs for the peons, but also, to trick the dumb non-Han Chinese into thinking that China is much stronger economically than she really is, by gaming economic metrics people use to judge the strength of economy, such as GDP. As much as 25% of PRC GDP was based on economic speculation based on ghost cities, if you count opportunity cost lost because of this, then as much as 50% of PRC GDP was an illusion. No superpower ever builds the foundation of their economy based on real estate speculation, devoid of productive economic activity in sustainable way. This is why I think Chinese are very smart, but also, very immature, and insecure, like a brilliant juvenile delinquent.
