It's true about our new president. I fought against Claudia but the election machine for her was like trump and obama put together. Things are so much different here that she has to keep anything pro international secret. If it is happening, and I assume she is an internationalist, I have not seen it yet. The globalist agenda is generations behind here and Mexicans are strong and capable, loyal. There is a good chance a revolution would occur here before it got halfway as bad as the US.   
And Mexicans don't flee Mexico. People from South America and all over the world pass through MX and through the open door to enter the US in hopes of making more money. The USA is the fabricated economic motor of the world and the new home of international banking. The fed is literally where the world's money is made and it's the American laundering system that distributes that fiat currency. It's all by plan and the puzzle pieces all fit together perfectly. That open border makes the public think people are fleeing MX along with achieving many other goals at the same time. The US system and the banking cartel can't afford the average American to know that right across the border you have a safe, free and beautiful option.   
Where I live the people are capable and most live old fashioned lives. Many here even still speak the original Aztec language Nahuatl. It would  be generations more before the traditional way of life is lost here and people take pride in the culture and their heritage. It may live on indefinitely.  
In my 6 years in Mexico I have never seen a hint of anything cartel related. I think that's way more tv and propaganda to keep Americans from seeing the truth about the country. As I said, they can't afford people to know. And I understand there are probably areas. Imagine if Mexico controlled the media narrative and portrayed the entire US as controlled by the south Chicago gangs. You would see a lot less border crossing. And I assume that MX cartels are controlled by intel and the CIA like the rest of the worlds drug trade. Intel merged with organized crime a long time ago and they would not leave such a huge and valuable entry portal to native Mexicans. Not a chance.  
In 6 years here, I only prefer it more and more. My town is safer than the vast majority of the USA. Life is better here in almost every way.

I lived in Tijuana for a few years to start. I have visited Nogales, Mexicali, and Juarez. The border is a pretty nasty place. It is more representative of the US criminal economic system and thuggery than real Mexico. Southern Mexico is the exact opposite! I have heard plenty of stories about cartels, but they are almost certainly operated by American intel as is all the worlds drug trade, human trafficking and black market and again not representative of Mexico. The Mexican/US border is the worlds prime and most profitable black market hub due to the access to the worlds largest consumer market. Not one tiny chance it is not managed and operated by the worlds intel/mafia conglomerate. Blamed on Mexico by the state controlled media, of course, but all the issues here are mostly from the north side.  
  
I have been stopped by police quite a few times and even caught with a personal supply of marijuana in Mexico. No less than 5 or 6 experiences because I rode a scooter to facilitate crossing the border into San Diego. The system of paying the cop 10-15 dollars, receiving a warning and then having the incident forgotten behind me is vastly superior to the US system, VASTLY SUPERIOR. In the US, the cop enters you into the government taxation system. They take you for huge sums of money and take huge ammounts of your time and and then proceed in harming your future prospects as much as they can, all at once. I am not a criminal so have been treated well by Mexican police. I have seen real criminals treated much different by the Mexican police, whose real goal is to protect the people. I always felt so much better being back in Tijuana after a day spent in San Diego.   
  
Political corruption is something that every country has. The political system in the former US is the most corrupt there is, and by a great margin. They just own everything so can manipulate the narrative and hide it much better. I'm not positive that assasination of corrupt politicians is such a bad thing, jk, a little. But again, any assasinations occurring are almost certainly managed by the mafia/intel conglomerate and have little to do with normal Mexican people.  
  
What is truly dangerous in this world is having an elite group that is immune to law and order, and respects no borders. A group with no regard for humanity and who has nearly unlimited resources and no fear of using them to reach its goals. This is the opposite of what life in Mexico is like.

You seemed to be focused on the "who's to blame" issue, which isn't what I'm talking about at all. I'm referring to the objective reality that cartel activity very well can impact your life there. I agree with you — cartels are largely underworld employees of foreign intelligence agencies — but that's not my point. My point is that their presence in Mexico is very prevalent (not saying it's *not* in the US, or that it's solely a Mexican phenomenon ). I wouldn't paint Mexico as a place where you can just expect to live for years and not have any hint of cartel activity (assuming you don't willfully ignore it).

Again, you're comparing a stop with real Mexican police with that of US police. That's not my point either, though perhaps the nuance of it was missed. My point is that gut-wrenching fear that sinks in when you're not sure if the people stopping you *are actual police.* Sometimes **they're not**, and it can turn into nightmare scenarios. Driving cross country and going through different narco-political territories, this tends to pop up. I'm happy you haven't encountered this. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I've personally lived through stuff that has awakened me to just how serious this stuff can get. I'm happy to be alive. Others haven't been so fortunate.

Bro...Again, it's not about the blame if it's "normal Mexican people" or not. I'd rather not be anywhere where it's normalized to merk politicians — PERIOD. It doesn't matter if it's just mafia/intel stuff. That's a terrible, terrible thing. And like you said, it would be one thing if it was just the people taking it on themselves to drive out corruption, but it's not that. That's what voting is for lol. These are mafias trying to control democracy through intimidation. When that happened in the US with JFK, it was the beginning of the end for American democracy. I wouldn't brush that off, or minimize just how tragically messed up that is.

Evil is bad, whatever its form. I'm not saying you can't live a good life in Mexico. But I wouldn't paint it as a place you can expect to find zero hint of cartel problems. Sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. In that moment, it won't matter if "Well, for my friend Bob he's been here for 5 years and it never happened to him". I've had friends of mine in touristy "safe" areas of Mexico get lit up with gunfire in boujie Airbnbs for cases of mistaken identity. This stuff happens. So it's important to just paint a more objective picture. There are risks everywhere. The cartels of Mexico are a big enough presence that it can impact your life indirectly if not directly, and it's important to recognize that.  
  
But of course, that's just my opinion.

So you're saying leaders in Mexico \_don't\_ only care about themselves and are somehow exempt from problems of morality which are inherent to the rest of humanity? Wow, talk about utopia!

It's easier to believe someone when they speak from a place of objectivity. This just doesn't ring objective whatsoever about a place that I and many others know firsthand has problems (as does EVERYWHERE, so not to single out Mexico, who is a beautiful country with wonderful people). That doesn't mean you can't live a good life there. That doesn't mean old ladies can't walk down the street at night and be fine. But to say "problems just vanish" and then invite a bunch of strangers on the internet to come join you in your little utopia sounds... well....

But to each their own. To whoever wants to go run down to Mexico and join this guy in his town that is magically exempt from problems and everything is perfect, go ahead, and let us know how it goes!  
  
I know if I found a place devoid of crime where everything was great, the last thing I would do is put an open invite on the internet for a bunch of random people to come join and potentially mess up the very thing that made it safe in the first place.  
  
(Unless perhaps I had a different agenda...)  
  
But I'm happy you found something that works for you! For me personally, someone who has lived in plenty of countries through out Latin America, Europe, and Asia — I appreciate a more nuanced and objective approach to judging places. Every place has its beauty, but no place is perfect or except from the human condition. Where there are humans, there are the flaws that come with those humans, struggling with their own internal morality and their role in society. I've yet to see a place where that isn't the case, no matter how seemingly safe.
