Don't we still have the "One China Policy"?
in
uspolitics
I am with the general view that *war with China is really bad...* However, to be completely fair, there actually is a desire for balance in terms of the Trump administration. Vance has been advocating the idea of *pivoting away from Europe and towards the Pacific*, which has been a very common foreign policy position. I believe this is Mearsheimer's own position on this, and that it ties back into a 1990s vision where Zbigniew Brzezinski emphasized the necessity of having friendly relations with Russia because it would be critical to American hegemony to drive the Russians into the China camp... And that's *exactly what Biden did*. A pivot towards the Pacific also means a pivot towards Taiwan, right, so how critical can we actually be of refocusing on this region. This is also something that is generally welcomed by many Pacific states, including ones that are not our traditional allies like Vietnam. Everyone wants to balance out Chinese power, and this would contribute actually to a more multipolar world, I think, so I am less critical of such a policy. However, having said that... *The neocons may very well muck it up*. But I hold out hope that Trump will push the party to a more nuanced and realpolitik stance. Of course, you can call me an idiot for this - that's fine, but I am only guilty of optimism.

Jordan Peterson is finding the wrong issues to care about
in
uspolitics
There is a more recent clip of him saying that he believes Jesus is God. I used to be like you, really skeptical of him, but he did eventually come out and say it. The clip below is about 20 seconds and confirms it.
