Because you're coming into this with ill-informed intentions, I don't want a trophy, rather I want people to fact check what is currently written. I'm not here to argue about viewpoints. Like it or not, Wikipedia has almost monopolized the process of which "research" is done on the internet. Most people no longer go onto academic journals when talking about subjects. Do I think that Wikipedia has flaws? Of course, there is a definite political bias for instance. But you almost certainly have to have at least a mention on Wikipedia for the general uninformed public to even consider trust. I would prefer if the way people did research wasn't solely this, but nothing I can do alone. My issue is that you're both putting words in my mouth and assuming I joined soj.oOo under malice. I came here because I realize that there are some trivia about Joseon that I can assist in, and that I have a lot to learn here myself. You linked someone else's post where I made the same misspelling, 1 that isn't that difficult to make if you weren't paying super close attention. I don't desire attention towards myself, rather I desire attention towards the page, because that's what happens in academics. I'm of the belief that literature needs to be peer reviewed, and if there's peers anywhere who may actually know about this topic, it'll be here. Circling back to the stalking claim, this isn't Kiwifarms, if there is one thing that Wikipedia is good at in the case of biographies, it's protecting against random claims and information that could've been taken in nefarious ways. One way this is done is by locking pages, not a an ideal solution per se but works. Edits can be reverted, accounts can be blocked. As an aside, this is why I think that every wiki that has attempted to liberalize the way edits are handled has overall failed, because there can't be any way to prevent being invasive. I understand, the more popular you get, the more "humanity" you lose, the more people treat you as something other than human. With MrBeast for example, plenty of his detractors treat him like a brand rather than Jimmy Donaldson. That's just how the internet changes the way social interaction works between individuals. I think that it's something that can only be helped with an objective, reviewed take on subjects, the original intention you could say behind why wikis exist. Sometimes, it can be difficult to live private lives, a private life that doesn't become publicized. That's not what Wikipedia has or is doing, a lot of the aggregate information is taken from various media sure; but there's at least a system of prevention to protect against stalking, which is not this aggregation but rather that aforementioned addition of information grabbed by nefarious ways.
