It's legit. But, not for the reasons people think. It's not about AI chatbots we can use to make silly pictures to post online. It's about AI powered: **Surveillance:** millions of high-definition cameras running 24/7, fed into facial recognition and gait recognition algorithms, then connected to your online persona through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tracking. That creates a LOT of data that has the be processed when you multiply it by billions of people. As Smart Cities become more common, the amount of data being processed is going to rise considerably. For example, Utah wants to build smart *roads*, where the roads themselves are capturing data on every car or mobile device that drives over it, all fed into a datacenter. They are currently building a datacenter there that is roughly 62 SQUARE MILES. That's twice the size of Manhattan 🤯 **Robots:** it's no secret that jobs are actively being replaced by new robots technology, and it's expected to increase greatly over the next 10 years. Most new robots are controlled by some form of AI. Goldman Sachs estimates up to 300 million jobs could be replaced by AI by 2030. PwC thinks 30% of US jobs are at risk by mid-2030. Forrester expects a net loss over over 10 million jobs in the US by 2030. 10 million+ robots will need a LOT of computing power. **Military:** the military is investing heavily into AI everything. Autonomous drones, robots, tracking systems, etc. all require a ton of processing power.

I could buy all but the last one. Maybe. The key word is 'autonomous'. Not connected to a data center.

Many autonomous drones are connected to data centers. AI takes a ton of processing power and energy, fitting that into a small drone is extremely difficult, so many autonomous military systems do most of their actual processing in data centers.
