AI is only a small fraction of what data centers handle; they are actually the invisible backbone of the entire modern internet. You can think of data centers as the digital power plants that keep our daily lives running. While AI gets the most news coverage right now, data centers are simultaneously powering: • Essential Infrastructure: Hospital medical records, banking transactions, and emergency services communication. • Daily Communication: Every email sent, video call made, and text message routed. • Entertainment & Commerce: Online shopping, video streaming (like Netflix or YouTube), and cloud photo backups for smartphones. • Global Logistics: Supply chains, GPS navigation mapping, and airline reservation systems. Without data centers, even basic tasks like swiping a credit card or checking the weather forecast would instantly stop working. Data centers directly benefit nearly every person living in a developed economy and billions of people worldwide. Because data centers power the underlying infrastructure of modern society (not just personal apps), their impact is near-universal.
