Because it's not actually about justice anymore. Maybe it's on purpose from a conspiratorial view or maybe it's just bureaucracy approaching it's own tail. It's just a system in the same way that a restaurant is a system of commerce and sustenance. The cop gets a paycheck to snag people who can afford to pay fines, then the court appointed attorney with 150 cases per week on their docket gives you your "due counsel", then you're thrown between a judge who just wants to go home and a state prosecutor who wants easy convictions for their CV. All that remains are plea deals because the court purposefully overcharges to get the lower convictions simply because *that* is the metric by which we measure success.

You can see the same thing play out with.. McDonald's for example. Corporate only cares about two metrics: customers served and the time in which they are served. So what happens is, people who order food whether by drive-thru or in store are shuffled through the system before their food is even finished because corporate only cares how quickly the orders are filled. You get rushed through the drive-thru and they make you pull around and sit in a parking spot like a cuckold waiting for your food because they **need** that metric. It's not about whether you liked your goyslop or if it was even prepared safely. Its *only* about whether or not yoy bought the slop *and* how fast you were brought to the trough.
