[I just read about it](https://The motive is unknown, but CCSO believes the student had been experiencing academic challenges, including failing several classes.). Hill Country is a far ways away and I choose to live under a rock. Apparently, this happened at a charter school (I’m a teacher so I have opinions) which serves mostly poor whites but it, overall, serves “economically disadvantaged” students. The tragedy is that it’s a 15 year-old kid. A kid who’s probably watching the shit hit the fan at home and was obviously disturbed. He probably took it out on the teacher because he was failing classes and blamed her. I’ve had this same thing happen to me (without being shot, praise God) where male students blame me for their issues and get aggressive. I’ve actually felt it necessary to plan what I would do in a school shooting generally and if one of my students came to kill me. That’s not a good place to be in. While this is Texas, you’d be surprised how many people (let alone students) don’t carry. And, statistically, a lot of people with access to guns don’t know how to use them anyway. This boy was troubled, saw a way out, and took it. It’s a disgusting waste of a life. Takeaways: Mental health is key for everyone. Therapy should be mandatory throughout K-12 curriculum. Right now, Texas has passed a law that restricts my academic freedom; because of dual-credit (high school kids taking college classes), I can’t do and say certain things that \*may\* offend the kids because I can get personally sued and fired. Poverty creates the assumption of the need for violence (boys kill each other over brand new shoes).

Mental health is spoken about as if it's as new phenomenon in mainstream society but it's clearly something that's been around forever and affects everybody differently. Some people get depressed and get over it just as quick, some people get obsessed, with being depressed, and believe the key is to leave the world that they see as as this giant mess behind unaware of the honest problems they will be amplifying for the people who care about them and their lives. Until I had children of my own, I didn't understand this, I felt like everyone had to be decent actors when it came to pretending to be upset at funerals, especially men who you rarely see cry. When you see women cry, sometimes you just assume it's part of their programming. But you realize why it would hurt so much to lose a loved one who you brought into this world and thought you gave them everything but I'm sure you can pinpoint a few mistakes you made that you will never let yourself live down believing you had been in some way responsible for their inability to find happiness and understand how much the world revolves around the sun and any other belief is selfish. Even if you're convinced that what you're doing is your final request. You are damaging the people who made it their life mission to bring you up successfully, they will never be the same again, the amount of pain any parent would feel losing their child is something I don't like to even begin to speak about let alone imagine being in their shoes. Sometimes I think it's a good thing that I have small feet, especially since the entire small feet small penis myth is a total lie. , I accept that most people don't fit in my shoes and I don't fit in theirs, just hopefully one day my children will be aware of how a simple split second decision could result in something you can't take back, and forever change the people who loved you more than you ever could fathom when they held you as a child, innocent, yet to be corrupted by this terrible world, attempted to shield them from all the pain the world could cause by providing them with the best childhood you thought could exist, but you can't plan for everything and you can't blame yourself.
