You are basically correct. A group was given a green field to prosper with, they chose not to. People paying for it decided it was not worth the risk. When its your money and your responsibility, you dont want to see people screaming "fix it" while they run rampant with negative behavior. It was clear to me that the intent was to allow a voting system to take over. The social climate is such that this was shown to be moot. The desire for self satisfaction outweighed the community aspect. This became a Chan with usernames.
