I can relate more than you think. I only got my shit together after I had a children. I feel like if I didn't have my daughter, I never would have gotten it together. She gave me something to live for outside of myself. Before that I was pretty crazy too. And I never really had parents that cared. I'm not close to my own family at all. I'm closer to my wife's family than my own. My parents are stereotypical selfish boomers that only care about money. They live for it. I don't understand them at all.

Yup. I know exactly what you mean. 99% of my family is gone and my brother and I are the only ones left and we can’t stand each other. Thank God for kids. They really are treasures. Their love makes up for all the times I never loved myself.

Yes children are a blessing! A blessing so many people are missing out on these days. I don't trust politicians and certain authority figures if they don't have children. I knew nothing before I had children. It forces you to grow in so many ways and to value life. It actually scares me that not enough people are having children. The way I reacted to my daughter I kind of wish I had children earlier. But my parents and their broken relationship always scared me from wanting to get married. It took a lot for me to gain trust in a relationship, it took my accident and my wife sticking with me and caring for me. And my parents warning me about children like it's the worst thing didn't help earlier...which is indirectly not a very nice message to me and my sister. Honestly I would not care if my daughter WANTED to have kids at 18, as long as she is with a good guy & let's us live with her to help, lol. I get having a career. But I wasted so much time before having a child on the stupidest stuff. I feel like had I married at 18 I would be ahead in life in the end. But it's all good, I'm not going to question it. I'm happy things happened the way they did. Though I certainly put myself into some stupid situations in life because I was aimless for so many years.

Awwww, this was so refreshing to read. This put a smile on my face. I too want to stay with my kids. I always told them that even when they get married, we have to get houses next to each other. We’ll buy out the block. Lol “But I wasted so much time before having a child on the stupidest stuff.” I definitely felt that.
