Perhaps, they think we will not recognize their New Age beliefs. None of us are devoid of beliefs, worldview etc. A Jew is likely to say, read the Torah and follow the laws etc. A Christian is likely to say, read the Bible and follow Jesus etc. A Muslim is likely to say, read the Quran and follow Muhammad etc. Observe, how they struggle to tell you what to read, and who to follow.
