Firstly, make the move to Linux Desktop. If you read through /p/tech you'll learn that Microsoft is spyware; you need a cloud account just to sign in with it. Also, it's screenshotting your desktop for something called 'Recall' - you don't want that. Download Ventoy https://www.ventoy.net/en/faq.html Once you have that setup and flash a USB drive with it Download Manjaro KDE Plasma https://manjaro.org/products/download/x86 Copy the .iso file over (drag and drop to your USB flash drive) And copy the iso to it. Reboot your computer and read the screen 'To enter BIOS, tap this key' usually f1, f12, or DEL Under 'Boot' Change the boot order to be USB first, then disable 'Secure Boot' Boot into Linux and follow the screen to install. If you're wanting all of your computers files all in one place for you to select to copy over; that's a bit trickier and the softwares out there can be difficult. Simply plug your external hard drive in, or even a flash drive and if you want to copy all of your Documents and Pictures, etc in one go I can give you a command to type; but ideally select the ones you want and put them on your external hard drive. If you're wanting to keep Windows on your new computer even after what I shared with you, EaseUS Todo PCTrans: This software allows you to transfer files, applications, and settings from one PC to another. It supports Windows 7, 10, and 11. You can choose to transfer specific files or entire folders. Laplink PCmover: Similar to EaseUS, PCmover can transfer files, settings, and applications from your old PCs to your new one. It has a user-friendly interface and supports multiple Windows versions.

WOW, you've blown me away by taking so much of your sacred time to lay this out for me in a way even I can understand (I've been using a computer since we changed from typewriters but this tech side is absolutely not my forte! THANK YOU so much! You've given me much to ponder ... thanks again ✨
