This is very cool! I’m glad that there’s a corollary in religious thought. In my academic classes, I use Peter Elbow’s critical thinking technique which he calls The Believing and Doubting Game. When implementing this, one alternates between fully accepting an idea (believing) and rigorously challenging it (doubting). It fosters deep understanding, empathy, and better analysis by suspending judgment before, not instead of, applying critical skepticism. Every time I teach this, I learn too.
