I think that the dollar will probably be around for a along time as a currency but it already is losing it's luster as a reserve. Right now even a cracked crystal ball will show an East West split solidly developing with no global power controlling trade. I think West is going to have to accommodate East when push comes to shove in the near future.

The West is protecting the East from China. Those people over there haven't ever liked each other and when they get a chance they invade each other. Japan and America are attached at the hip when it comes to the dollar being the reserve currency of the world...
