**Can soj.ooO survive?** It should be obvious to our community, that attempts will be made to shut this platform down. And we ain’t doing the creators any favors by lulling them into a false sense of security. soj.ooO has HUGE potential! I love it already. The original concept of Pochas. The innovative principle of natural memory. I dare to claim that with Matt Kim and Peter Saddington as trusted and competent leaders soj.ooO could grow into a major platform within 3-5 years. But as soon as this platform growths a coalition of governments, tech giants and NGOs (e.g., ADL, SPLC) will form to take them down. It’s really just a matter of time. And as a user - before considering to invest a considerable amount of time to create high quality content - one needs to feel a sense of security that soj.ooO won’t be easily deplatformed. ADL reports will be issued. Will this lead to stricter moderation? Is AWS used as infrastrucutre, that can be simply cut off as it happened to Parler in 2021? **The community’s trust can only be gained by transparency not blind trust in the creators.** To build this sense of security and potentially help the creators prepare for the incoming attacks, following a first overview of tactics, that have been used so far to ban or censor social media platforms. It will be of vital importance that counter-tactics are in place and their implementation proven through transparency. This issue has to become a constantly iterated point of discussion in order to maximize the platforms probability of survival. **Tactics** used so far to ban or censor social media platforms: • ‘Public Smear Campaigns’: Label platforms as hate hubs to justify moderation ◦ Examples: 4chan (ADL reports); Gab (media blitz, 2018). ◦ Counter-Tactic: ? • ‘Legal Threats’: Use hate speech or security laws to force bans or compliance ◦ Examples: TikTok (U.S. ban attempt, 2025); Rumble (France, 2022). ◦ Counter-Tactic: ▪ Jurisdictional evasion by basing operations in privacy-friendly countries (e.g., Iceland)?! ▪ Frame platform as protocol, not a company, like BitTorrent, making it harder to target legally?! • ‘Advertiser Pressure’: Starve revenue by demonizing content ◦ Examples: Rumble (boycotts, 2023); X (post-Musk pullbacks, 2023). ◦ Counter-Tactic: How to reach Revenue independence?! ▪ Gab pivoted to crypto post-2018 when advertisers fled. • ‘Deplatforming via Infrastructure’: Cut off hosting, payment, or app access ◦ Examples: Gab (PayPal, 2018); Parler (AWS, 2021). ◦ Counter-Tactic: Decentralized infrastructure and self-hosting?! • ‘Terrorism Linkage’: Tie platforms to extremist acts for public outrage and legal leverage ◦ Examples: 4chan (Christchurch, 2019); Gab (Pittsburgh, 2018); Parler (Capitol riot, 2021). ◦ Counter-Tactic: ?

Move data centers to a friendly Eastern European country that doesn’t share with the US criminal IRS or any other US UK , ETC-agency, Malta? It’s time consuming to CK every single one.

I think a lot of these will be answered soon. However you make a great post, and these are all important things for everyone to brainstorm. As if we want Soj.ooO to succeed than we need good contributions from the users.
