My partner and I are seriously considering Mexico, central America or South America. We are in the UK at the moment and every day makes us want to leave more than the day before. I'm going to ask the obvious question. We are told Mexico is run by criminal cartels and rife with corruption, drug and human trafficking. Is it?

Thanks for the question! In 6 years here, not a hint of cartel or trafficking. People are free and friendly, they tend to ask me questions about America in conversation. I love it more and more as I see and learn more. I doubt there is any place that is without corruption, but here cops are there to help people and not collect money for the govt. And the government doesn't interfere unless you start trouble. And I'm sure if you get mixed up in bad things you will encounter bad people. But old ladies and families walk in the street here day and night without worry. The most corrupt country ever is the one on the north side of the border.
