Are the comments here not a representation of the present?  
  
I have floated the idea of Pocha's acting more like city-states.  If Soj.ooO is the USA or a country like Joseon, than the pochas and their MODS are the states/governors of their territory.   
  
The goal here is not to have a Tech billionaire overlord controlling what people can say.   
  
So let the users say whatever they want, and let the users choose to see whatever they want.  
  
The goal here should be to remove as much federal over-arching control as possible.  Give the Freedom to the users.  
  
I am all for free speech.  But I am also for private speech.  While saying whatever you want to whoever you want at anytime is great.  This is also an impediment to honest beneficial discussion.  If 2 people are trying to talk to each other and are on the path to create something ground breaking.  But 40 people keep breaking up the conversation and flooding the comments to the point where you can't even keep a coherent conversation going than we are already in an echo chamber.   
  
An echo chamber of insanity.  The site is currently in an echo chamber "Matt kim is gay crypto jew, Andrew lee is trying to steal your bitcoins!, the DAO is evil, I want to complain about everything and I hate this website but I won't stop complaining everyday about the website on the website!!"    
  
or the "my religion is the best and yours sucks" post.  It's just getting old.  
  
all we are accomplishing here is showing that people are retarded, selfish and hate filled towards each other.  They make demands, threats, traps out put spite and silly emotional reactions.  
  
All of the content and descended into hatred towards the platform and it's just not interesting anymore.  There's no users left, and there isn't an angle to bring in new users.  
  
Even the reaction to "bans" or blocks whatever, is an overreaction.  You can just log out and see all the content on the website you are "blocked" from.  You can take 15 seconds and sign up with a temporary email and see and comment on all the content you've been "blocked" from.
