For what purpose?

Maybe, Maybe not. When the pocha mod is inactive. When the pocha mod doesn't like you. The user suggests to ensure one person can't gain undue control over the governance across multiple accounts you might need a way to check that. Which theoretically is not possible given this platform supposedly only holds your email. The only way to resolve that is capture more back end data. Right now that's not a compelling reason. But to my mind, it's only a matter of time until someone better at manipulating discourse comes up with a more compelling reason.
