"While of course I can't show you the price from the place I shop, a simple Brave search shows that nectarines are as high as $2.49 per pound or as low as $.97 per pound." $.98 is the low wholesale price for nectarines. walmart has them for $.97 each, or two pounds for $2.49 per pound. And Walmart is a discount retailer. So $2.49 per pound is not the high side, it's the current nominal price per pound.
