*I'm saying there's almost no situation in our various experiences which should lead us to believe that sharing our thoughts with other people would produce any outcome even similar to that.* Not sure of the obviously very nuanced point your are trying to share here? There are many situations in our various experiences which should lead us to believe that sharing our thoughts with other people will produce an outcome similar to that. Golf Instruction for one....yes? Just one of many examples...along that line of communication. Not trying to be contentious here.....we can use language to communicate...some of us better than others. You seem to be making communication to be based on predictive framing....but not too sure why you are suggesting as much. Interesting topic....as certainly...the English Language is not a good language for telling 'truths'. But communication and truth are are not causal....or even correlational. And here we are. Peace.😇

I'm mostly a handyman these days. I can give people exact one-to-one instruction to solve their problems over the phone. Most of the time it doesn't work. Lady needed to restart her gas water heater's burner. Told her exactly how to do it. She had me come out because it wasn't working. I showed here and she said: "That's the ignitor?" The button is labeled. Just something in her head wouldn't let her push the right button. I don't think I'm being very subtle or nuanced here. Someone else's mind isn't your mind. You don't know what their precepts are. You can't predict what your words are going to mean to them.

*You can't predict what your words are going to mean to them.* In the general sense of 'you', one can understand the message you are attempting to portray. But I can predict with almost certain accuracy what my *words* are going to mean to others...in the right context. I work on that....it requires a lot of focus. However, your point was about language, and your example is on point, so to that end, most all of my educational pursuits are done in person....body language available and necessary to the task at hand. Otherwise, I mostly agree with your assertions. Language alone is a very poor communicator...even among the best of us.😇 Peace.😇

In retrospect, I'm really implying that exactly what we're going through right now is what we're talking about. I can't make you get my point. I maybe can't even tell if you get my point. If you reflect on how many times you've found yourself confused and befuddled by the apparent interpretation that's been applied to a conversation you had in person, then you can perhaps get at least some of what I'm attempting to communicate.
