Not too sure how 'simple' that is. That is a bit like saying a Muslim is an atheist. And then suggesting that Muslim isn't a religion.....Islam is. I haven't even looked into that yet....can one be Muslim and not be an Islamist? Complex topic....not simple. :) Unless by Simple, you mean a classification of Simple Sentences vs Compound vs Complex Sentences? Simple Sentences aren't simple either....gotta love language.....grammatical structures crumbling under the weight of conflation in terms. How does one define Jewish? If your mother was Jewish....and so on...the levels are cryptic to the 'non chosen'. Appreciate your insights. Peace😇

Again. "Jewish" is just a line of descent. Judaism is a religion. I know people descended from the Ptolemaic line of kings. What that means is that an ancient ancestor was closely related to the family that took control of Egypt. It doesn't mean they're Egyptian in any way. Yes. Hitchens descended matrilineally from Jews. According to the rules of Judaism, that makes him a Jew. According to the laws of Israel, that makes him a Jew. He did not apparently have any affinity for Judaism. Nor any concern for his genetic relationship to Jewish people. I'm descended from worshipers of Seth-Baal. And???? My family name translates to a major city of the ancient world. And???? It doesn't mean anything. He never lived "As a Jew", so there's nothing complicated about it. Some of your ancestors were French. And???? Some of my ancestors left England over 400 years ago. And???? So what? And nothing.
