I first read the Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand when I was 19. WOW! What a view of life, the world, the universe! Existence exists. That’s it, folks. Accept it. As read this book, then its fictional demonstrative in life, Atlas Shrugged, I was amazed at how much I had in common, being a person raised with religion. I do not, nor would not criticize you here. I do have questions. My questions are NOT meant to be argumentative. The limitation of this format is the inability to have a conversation, hear a tone of voice, see body language, etc. Is your life guided by a moral compass/innate knowledge of right vs. wrong? If so, from what influence does your moral compass derive? If I could have dinner with Ayn Rand, this is exactly what I would ask her. For myself, I do believe have one. Its foundation IS in religion, Jesus AND Mary, specifically. I look at the biblical accounts, the Catholic catechesis and the non religious, historical accounts of their lives and am so impressed. Joseph impresses me too. These are people who made against the grain sacrifices for the betterment of others (in the religious teaching). Their choices, to a lesser extent, were mimicked enough through the centuries until I landed on this rock. So I share their compass.
