Here is a preview. When I was a boy, my family lived next to the American Brass foundry in Kenosha. Most of the kids in that neighborhood were families from the South, who left the farms to work in the factories. Many were families who immigrated from other countries. For example, there was a kid named Carmen. His parents were from Italy. On a couple of occasions, I was allowed into their home, where I remember seeing Carmen's Mom in the kitchen. She was a good cook. Carmen must have been older or something, because I did not see him much. Then one day, many years later, all grown up, I saw a photo/story in the Kenosha News. There was Carmen! His brother Joe Andrea had entered political office, and they were celebrating at a local eatery. Nobody knew Carmen was Joe's brother! I looked up Freddie Ortiz, who I had not seen in years, and asked him "Did you know Carmen was Joe Andrea's brother?" He did not know either! Freddie probably knew very little about representative govt, as well. So the reality of the "Rust Belt" includes people who are elites, like Ben Hamper.

Is the full story going to include how they got into the mob? How they put a hit out on you? How you, obviously, outlasted their attempt? Does this, this story, make you famous? In Kenosha, does everyone know your name because the Italians hated you?

You are making an epistemological mistake when you include "everyone." To make that generalization to support the rationale of an argument is fallacious. Not all Italians hated me. Not everyone knows who I am. But what generalization can I make? It doesn't seem possible, does it? But there are a group of elites who control your life, and mine. And no. I will never be famous because of my story. There is no way in hell they would support me. You might be surprised to learn, if your dissent is blatantly polemical, they will build an govt office against you. I have my own NGO in Kenosha. The govt has the power, not me.

Please forgive me. You’re correct; sweeping generalizations are fallacious. I should be more careful with my dialogue with you. If you don’t have haters, you’re doing something wrong, imo. Perhaps, if you had more faith in what you did to be so hated, to have an NGO created to destroy you, you’d be happy to have a chance to speak your side of the story and earn the fame. I am not against you nor is anyone else here (crap, another generalization!)…

Forget about it. Don't be afraid to say what you think. We can go over a few things that way. You see. This is the problem I have with the schools. How can you learn and grow when you waiting for a shoe to drop. Now, if you are giving a speech like George W Bush and someone throws a shoe at your, that is a different thing.

You devil! Nobody wants to hear what I got to say, especially the city mothers/fathers in Kenosha. My own people! They can only guess themselves. They guess! One of the first things I learned in shop class, the political elite don't know. Didn't they go to school? What happened to me, should never happen kids. I was 15 years old.

I get to tell a story. Have you read Ben Hamper? There aren't many accounts written of life in the manufacturing towns during 1950's-1970's. Not that I know of. They called it "The Rust Belt." It was worse than that. Who knew?
