I think success is what you make it. there is inner success and outer success… culturally we all know what the traditional “success” is here in America… no need to rehash it arguably, there’s nothing wrong with being a respected and productive member of society with a family and all the trappings of wealth. but eastern philosophies take a completely different approach to success. Enlightenment and the other approaches, such as Nirvana are more highly appreciated in these cultures. to me, merely being at a stage where you can be happy with yourself is success. A lot of people sacrifice a lot of things in order to become successful, and I would not look at that as a form of success, but they probably would. I think these minimalist, subtle expressions of these complex concepts tend to be more “in the vein” than most people realize.
