Back in the '60's, my dad, borthers and I hunted for bear/elk in the White River National Forest. Once, while we waited for a wounded elk to show itself, we were sitting alongside a game trail. I looked down, and saw thousands of sea shells mixed with the granite sand making up the mountain range. Our elevation was +/- 10,000 feet.

For several decades, archeaologists have been examining ancient wreckage on Mt. Ararat, in Turkey. Recently, they found evidence of human/animal activity there. Further, have you seen reports/pics of dozens of palacial ruins found at the bottom of oceans/seas?

I doubt if His feelings for animals, whether sea or land were the most important issue in His deciding to eliminate a corrupted, foul people. Although He did order Noah to make certain he took breed-stock into the ark to repopulate the planet. Same can be said about the 8 humans; Noah, his wife, his three sons, (Shem, Ham, and Jaʹpheth), as well as their spouses, to repopulate earth.

%%Why did the god of the Bible only kill land animals?%%  
Their deaths were a consequence of the flood. Just as sea creatures' survival was a consequence of the flood. Our Creator has a much more balanced view of animal life.  
His primary goal was to eliminate evil mankind. Noah and his family would need sustenance once the flood waters receded. It might sound outrageous to us, but you have to remember, time has a whole different perspective to God than it does to man.

Every aspect of humanity has been corrupted, distorted and ruined. Many things living today were not living then, as they do now. The animals he DID take into the ark probably had fleas/ticks in their fur. But I seriously doubt they would have been worth mentioning.

Our Creator is so powerful, He literally cannot lie. Any "contradictions" within scripture, are not His "contradictions", they are misinterpretations and/or misunderstandings of men, (whether, as in the case of Cyrus Scofield's "reference bible", funded by wealthy Jew\[ Samuel Untermyer\] to confuse the issues pertaining to their being His "chosen"). YOu'll never find a contradiction in (accurate) scripture, you will, however, find things which may be misinterpreted by "others". I get confused at times, even now. But I guess that's where faith comes in. When I have a conflict, I simply work on resolving it to my understanding, knowing my God has no reason to mislead or lie. Good questions! I literally got a headache trying to work my way through them! Finally, as I got older and began looking outside the corrupted media for answers, it struck me how purely evil this system of things is - Then I concluded that, if there are evil powers at work, there has to be powers to oppose those. Put simply, for there to be evil, there has to be goodness to oppose it.
