I read those verses, and I don’t reject them—but I read them through the same lens as 2:62: God isn’t running an “in-group vs out-group” religion, and spiritual truth isn’t a monopoly of labels.

When the Qur’an says God is “the best of planners” (3:54) and that nothing happens except by God’s permission (64:11, 9:51), I take that as pointing to a reality that’s deeper than our surface-level narratives: there’s a wisdom and an order at work that our ego can’t fully map. Ibn ‘Arabi’s language helps me here: existence is one (wahdat al-wujud), and all events unfold within the One Reality—yet we still experience real responsibility within that unfolding.

That’s why 4:79 matters too. If “good is from God” and “bad is from you,” I don’t read it as God being absent from hardship, or as a simplistic blame game. I read it as: the Source is pure good, and when harm manifests in our lived world it’s often through the distortions of the self—ignorance, arrogance, oppression, heedlessness, fear. The Divine remains the ground of being, but our “angle of reception” can be crooked. In other words: the sun is shining, but the window can be dirty.

This also ties into the “spoonful of ocean water” idea: we’re trying to sample an infinite ocean with a finite spoon. So when we quote verses about decree, the point (to me) isn’t fatalism or moral resignation. It’s humility. Trust. And a reminder that our interpretations are partial—useful, but not the whole.

Alan Watts and Joseph Campbell help me frame the psychological side: people turn “God’s plan” into a story that either comforts the ego (“everything is happening for me”) or condemns someone else (“they deserve it”). But the deeper invitation is transformation: to align with truth, justice, and mercy—because that alignment is what “submission” actually is, not merely a badge.

And Neville Goddard, for me, speaks to the inner dimension of guidance: what you consistently assume, embody, and imagine shapes your experience. Not as “I control the universe,” but as: the heart has a direction. If you cultivate trust, gratitude, repentance, and courage, you start seeing guidance everywhere. If you cultivate resentment and fear, you’ll interpret everything through that lens. That’s not denying God’s will—it’s describing how the self participates in what it perceives and becomes.

So yes: I agree with trusting God’s decree. But I’d add that trusting decree doesn’t cancel moral responsibility—it intensifies it. It means I can accept what arrives without bitterness, and still take ownership of my response. It means I can say “this is from God” in the sense that nothing is outside God, while also saying “I have to look at myself” when harm, injustice, or suffering is tied to human choices and inner states.

And circling back to my original point: 2:62 is still the principle I stand on. Salvation/righteous standing isn’t a club membership; it’s sincere faith in the Real, accountability, and righteous action. If someone is living truthfully—seeking God, doing justice, showing mercy—then regardless of label, they’re already participating in what Islam means at its core: surrender to the Truth.

I’m not “pro-Zionist,” and I’m not here to run cover for Israel or for any state violence. If the IDF (or anyone) destroys Al‑Aqsa or attacks worshippers, that’s wrong and I won’t justify it. A mosque is a place where God is remembered, and harming it—or the people in it—should be condemned.

On the Qur’an verse (22:40): I read it as a principle, not a guarantee that holy places will never be violated. It’s saying that if God did not restrain aggression through people opposing it, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and masjids would be destroyed. In other words: unchecked power tends to destroy sacred spaces. So when we see sacred sites being damaged or threatened, that doesn’t “refute” the verse—it illustrates the warning in it, and it strengthens the obligation on people to resist oppression and protect worshippers and houses of worship, whoever they belong to.

As for “the nature of worship” in the mosque: I genuinely don’t know what you want me to conclude from the image. If the photo shows people cleaning up after violence, that looks like dignity and service in the aftermath of a tragedy. Cleaning, repairing, and helping each other can be a form of devotion—at minimum it’s a humane response. And yes, it would be good to see Jews, Christians, and anyone else standing with Muslims in protecting worshippers and sacred sites, just as Muslims should stand against attacks on churches and synagogues.

My position is consistent: I oppose occupation and collective punishment, and I oppose dehumanization. I can criticize Israeli policies and actions without turning it into hatred of Jews who are in alignment with peace, and I can defend Palestinians’ rights and Islamic holy sites without pretending any party is beyond criticism. Protecting Al‑Aqsa (and every house of worship) should be a shared moral baseline... that said, I do think the bastardized Judaism that supports Zionism is not in accord with peace... nor under the umbrella of what we mutually accept as the definitions of Muslim or Islam... or with those same "Jews" mentioned in Surah 2:62 ... those "Jews" \[the zionist\] are the problem of all they call "Goy".
