It's really the OG rabbit hole. While some say Plato was just using the tale to teach a lesson about life and glorify Athens. His student Crantor claims it was a real place and not a myth. When you factor in the Younger Dryas Impact theory, isostatic rebound. I think the Azores being a possible part of what "Atlantis" may have been makes sense. Whether the Atlanteans were as advanced as some people try to claim I think is very unlikely. How did the proto-Athenians defend against them if they were so advanced? And why would such an advanced people need to go to war with primitive Greeks? I tend to think it was a sea-faring nation that traversed the Globe. This then brings to mind was the Younger Dryas Impact an act of God? or just natural forces at work. All Cultures have "The Flood myth" in their histories in some form or another.

Have you heard of Randall Carlson? He makes a great case for the Azores as a major city. It literally dropped into the ocean given isostatic rebound as the ice from the North Pole melted. The younger dryas is so insane to think about, I can't believe humans are still alive. The event left a bottle neck of around 10,000 people.

Yes I love Randall Carlson. I don't know if I believe everything he talks about. But I love his stuff. Especially when he talks about younger dryas.
