You tried farming, toiling and living in caves wearing silk? I think the idea is that they were banished, and they had to leave. Now. Pulling silk out of a worms balloon knot, then weaving it into some jammies for them wouldn't have gotten quite the same point across. He had to teach them how to do it so they could survive as well, it was quick, gruesome, and memorable...and it served as the basis for how He would later grant blood atonement for sin thru a substitute. First thru animals, and finally thru Jesus Christ.
