believe it varries some banks/credit unions I recall it's even lower like $3k ... they benefit twice by keeping you on tight leash in their system and mining your transactions

I know that they'll report you to the IRS if you withdraw one or two thousand over the course of a month. The banks want a record of all transactions, and impose themselves on you.
