Upon traveling back in a time machine to kill baby hitler, Roosevelt is faced with a dilemma, he is unsure which baby hitler is the real baby hitler, records say this one is correct:  But he was given this photo of baby hitler to go off..  He'll have to make a choice, humanities future depends on it he is told. He decides to take out the second baby since he was given this photo originally in the future to go off... Only when returning to the future will he know if his choice was the right one... (Spoiler, it wasn't, this is where Philip k dicks "man in a high castle" goes from fiction to alternate reality
