You're clearly too young to remember when fuel prices went up. This article is from late 2012, but it talks about what "gas lines" were like in the 1970's. I remember this stuff directly. I was there. What we're going through now doesn't even get close to that.

Yeah i was born in 91'. But i have read about the gas lines of the 70s after watching licorice pizza and becoming interested in the entire thing. I am familiar with it through baselevel research, but it is a major issue the US needs to contend with when they decide to start wars with the middle east, since we are heavily reliant on foreign exported oil, and the 70s was the result of a coordinated effort by arab nations placing a strategic embargo on US for petroleum exports, which we rely heavily on despite an illusoin of American independence and remaining enemies with Iran, a foolish move geopolitically since no size military can really perform much without the oil and gas required to fuel the military machine. Also federal price controls didnt help matters much, i know my mom said there were certain days depending on the first letter on your liscense plate perhaps would ensure your day youd be allowed to go to the pumps and refuel which created a mess for people who were finacially incapable of filling their tanks, leading to all out mayhem at the pumps, lines miles long, people fighting for place in line if someone cut or it wasnt their day to be there or they were there to fill gas cans and gas cans of extra fuel for themselves. Sounds like a total nightmare. Licorice pizza was a good fiction film that portrayed the time era and the effects of the oil embargo in an interesting and entertaining light if you havent seen it i suggest you do.

Haven't seen that film to comment on it. But, I was there. What we're going through today isn't even in the same category.

Oh i realize that, which is why i didnt compare the two. Just saw this meme and found it funny. But check out licorice pizza, its a great film and since you lived through it youll find it to be quite nostaligic, the director did a good job capturing the period pretty well by all accounts and reviews ive read.
