Thank you for sharing that. The correct translation is 72 wives in the hadith in Tirmizi. It's considered Sahih but it's missing from the other collections. We have other hadith which mention we will be in a different form so Im not sure how the concept of wives or virgins would be in heaven. But the actual point of the video was that there's nothing in the Quran describing them as virgins that you would typically imagine in an earthly, sexualized way. Yet , that's the misconception out there, even amongst many muslim. Allah knows best.

I don't. I assume most don't. I can't answer for any who do. One could argue that since everyone will be a virgin in paradise so it's OK to write virgins instead of wives, but that still doesn't change the fact that the word in hadith literally translates to wife, not virgin. Doesn't make a difference to me, but just pointing out a common mistake which leads to a bigger problem. The bigger problem being that Quran and hadith both convey that we will be in a different form, not in our human forms, and without bad thoughts, however, using the word "virgins" gives an impression to non-muslims that these are sexualized and depraved desires of muslims, which is not the case.
